Yamaha F60 Jet Drive

The Yamaha F60 Jet Drive bridges the gap between lightweight portability and large-block river muscle. By removing the traditional lower unit gearcase and replacing it with an advanced, hydrodynamic jet pump system, this motor allows you to navigate boulder-strewn rivers, shifting sandbars, and extreme skinny-water flats without the fear of striking a propeller. Because jet pumps lose roughly 30% of their power head efficiency through internal friction and water diversion, Yamaha’s proven 1.0-liter four-stroke powerhead is masterfully calibrated to deliver a highly effective 40 horsepower directly at the pump nozzle.

Unlike smaller 3-cylinder motors, the F60 Jet Drive relies on a smooth, inline 4-cylinder Single Overhead Camshaft (SOHC) configuration. This extra cylinder architecture provides exceptional balancing and a steady, high-amplitude torque curve that easily hops loaded aluminum jo boats or flats skiffs onto a plane. Equipped with Multi-Point Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) and long-track intake manifolds, it delivers rapid throttle response, crisp mid-range acceleration, and the turnkey reliability required when tracking isolated river rapids.
