The Yamaha F115 Jet Drive (F115JB) is built for serious river runners, backcountry guides, and outdoorsmen who need significant load-carrying capability in thin water. By replacing a traditional lower unit gearcase with an advanced, factory-installed hydrodynamic jet pump, this engine completely removes any protruding skeg or propeller blades. This configuration lets you skim safely over gravel bars, rocky rapids, and shallow flats that would instantly ruin a standard prop. Because jet pumps lose roughly 30% of their power head efficiency through internal friction, Yamaha pairs its massive 1.8-liter powerhead to deliver a highly effective 80 horsepower directly at the pump nozzle.

Built on an inline 4-cylinder Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) architecture with 16 valves, the F115 Jet Drive features long-tube intake tracks tailored to maximize airflow. This design creates an exceptionally punchy low-end torque profile, allowing heavy jet sleds, aluminum guide boats, and deep-V river hulls to jump on plane almost instantly. Driven by precision Multi-Point Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) and a microcomputer ECM, this high-capability platform delivers turnkey reliability, predictable handling, and excellent fuel economy in fast-moving water environments.
